Cover & Solicit 4/5

This issue we have the choice of two covers. The first is drawn by John Tyler Christopher (Artifacts, Dark Avengers, New Mutants) and the second is by Laura Braga (Cyber Force, Witchblade).  Neither cover really match the events of the issue, but they they are both beautifully done.

Art, Colors & Inking 4/5

Laura Braga is back and I'm glad. While Maan House's art wasn't horrible it wasn't my taste. It's also nice to see the difference in artists takes on the Witchblade and it's modes, example this issue has Sara using it to partially cover her clothes and it looks pretty awesome. My only gripe is Laura's use of eyeliner on everyone and there were a few panels again where her facial expressions just seem strange. The talented Betsy Gonia again shines in the coloring duties.

Layout & Flow 4/5

Top Cow continues to have the recap at the beginning of the issues but again doesn't have The Witching Hour. I really miss that feature because as a new reader it was nice to pickup tidbits about the Witchblade Mythos. This issue seems to jump right into the action, and while that's great who doesn't like action, the reader is left with a little confusion as to why Sara is doing what she is or for that matter where she is. We eventually learn and it's explained but it was a little jarring at first considering where we left her last issue. Laura's panels were great and her flow is perfect like usual.

Story 4/5

This issue is written by Ron Marz (Green Lantern, Artifacts, Silver Surfer) and starts with Sara and Rooney fighting demons. It seems Yang has taken over the Darkness bearer Jackie's territory after his death. Due to the demon from the circus last issue and Jackie's wife Jenny being the new Angelus, Sara is investigating why. Its fun to see a series that while you have someone with powers, yet still stays grounded like Sara doing good old investigative work. Sara eventually decides to head to Jackie's estate in Jersey to learn the events that occurred, and learns Jenny must have transformed there. Ron again leaves us wanting more with his final pages and a teaser that will lead into the upcoming Darkness Falls.

Verdict - 4 (8/10) (Buy Witchblade) SAVE 10%

The gang is back together. After a single issue hiatus Laura Braga is back with Betsy Gonia and Ron Marz. I'm glad to see her back and in full form with her beautiful rendition of the Witchblade. Ron Marz does a great job with the story, however I did find the initial jump right into action a little confusing considering where we left off last issue. This issue builds on the events from the first arc with the Angelus while also opening the door to the upcoming Darkness Falls arc. The final pages alone make me with it was September. Now is the perfect time to get on board and add Witchblade to your pull-list.
