Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Cover & Solicit 3/5

I don't care for the artists style on the main cover. I'm also not impressed with the variant. Being the last issue before the Marvel NOW! relaunch I would have figured they might have spiced things up a bit.

Art, Colors & Inking 4/5

I didn't mind the art style as much in this issue compared to Wolverine #316 - Covenant, Part 3, and it's for one reason alone, Wolverine's face isn't show as much. The main problem with this artists style is the way he draws male noses and foreheads. Like I mentioned in my last review they seem almost neanderthal like.

Layout & Flow 5/5

Compared to the start of this arc the pacing and flow make so much sense now. My biggest gripe with an issue is when it takes you until the end of an arc to really get a feel for what's going on. I wish more publishers would treat the beginning of an arc like the book is a new title or series and give a little more hand holding thru the start, and then ramp it up as they go.

Story 4/5

In the conclusion to the arc we find Wolverine and his ex-girlfriends trying to find the Covenant and save the Dreaming Maiden. Wolverine explains to his exes about working for the Covenant but leaving when they asked him to kill the Maiden. Once in Louisiana they come across some rednecks guarding the Maiden. Before long the long thought dead Covenant come onto the scene. They book had a lot of good action scenes. It also did a good job of setting up hopefully future issues with the Covenant as a major villain in future titles. They also touch on Logan's memory loss at the hands of Dr. Rot. I don't know why they have to make Logan the man of many mysteries and little memory of his past. This was a pretty good story arc overall and I'd recommend the TPB.

Verdict 4
