Cover & Solicit 4/5

The cover is really the only thing I don't like about this issue. The art is a total letdown compared to the interior art, and the subject matter is pretty bland as well. Both the solicit and the cover inplies that Storm is creating a thunderstorms and rain to bring life to Reservation X, the problem is in this issue we find out she cant' even do that.

Art, Colors & Inking 5/5

After the letdown in the art department from from Ultimate Comics X-Men #18.1 - Point One, I'm glad we have the normal artist back. The colors are vibrant and the inking is smooth. My only pet peeve is the age at which the characters are drawn. In some cases they are a little to well endowed for teenagers.

Layout & Flow 4/5

The flow of this issue is pretty straight forward, there is little bouncing back and forth between different stories. The few times it changes from character to character it was easy to keep up and it didn't disrupt the reading. I did have a small gripe about Psylocke and Rogue's interaction, it came odd at first because I wasn't sure if they were actually talking or just a mind game.

Story 5/5

This issue continues from the last with the remaining 20 mutants trying to make a home on Reservation X. Mach Two is still trying to overthrow Kitty, and Kitty's team is trying to grow food. Jimmy Hudson is sent on a mission to find the extent of the damage to the area and discovers there are areas of high nuclear radiation. Because Storm is unable to bring rainfall to them, Blackheath and Zero are able to create a mutant seed that is able to adapt to any environment. Kitty has to decide if her first act as a sovereign nation is to provide this gift to the world. At the end of the issue we discover that Iron Man has been sent to protect the Mutants interest before they announce their discovery to the world. This is turning out to be a nice story-arc and I can anticipate a bigger conflict down the line as the seed they have created will decimate agricultural business, and also bring free sustainable food to 3rd world countries. There was minimal mention of Karen Grant (Jean Grey) and her group in this issue, but I suspect they won't stay quiet for long.

Verdict 4.7
