Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Cover & Solicit 3/5

I didn't feel this cover was an accurate portrayal of the events in the book. While it does show the Kryptonian suit, it appears as something else is attacking Superboy. Also what's wrong with Superman's face? For me the cover should be a piece of art, and this one's colors and style don't present me with that.

Art, Colors & Inking 3/5

Why DC must you change artists in a book!! Again we have multiple artists working on the same book. It seems like every panel that H'el shows up in they change artists for a single page and then jump right back to the original. Also I noticed that H'el's "S" has been missing from a few of the issue, I guess it's possible he healed, but then again like in Supergirl #14 - Lost Son of Krypton it seems like a lot of what H'el does is an illusion so this could be his mental image of himself.

Layout & Flow 4/5

Minus the art, the flow of this issue worked well. We are taken from the streets of Metropolis to the Fortress of Solitude. I enjoyed the interactions between Superman and Superboy.

Story 4/5

The issue is the followup to the events in Superman #14 - H'el on Earth: Build a Parachute on Your Way Down with Superboy badly beaten by H'el. Superman takes Kon El to his fortress to help save his live, and has to use his Kryptonian suit to stabilize his body. Unfortunately this has the negative effect of neutralizing his powers and making him more Kryptonian and taking on Superman's abilities (strength, flight, etc) and losing his telekinesis. In the end H'el comes to the fortress for another showdown with the Superman. I can't wait to read the next issue in the arc, and I'd really like to see what they do with the suit and if Superboy might get to keep it. The only downside is his TK at least made him unique in the Supers family, but I guess we will see.

Verdict 3.6
