Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Cover & Solicit 4/5

I really liked this cover compared to the last few issues. We find Hawkeye who is the focus of this series fighting off the rest of the Marvel Universe. While this doesn't occur in the issue it is a good representation of what the series is about.

Art, Colors & Inking 3/5

I'm really disappointed in the art style for this series. It seems they were going for a gritty post apocalyptic style but to me is just seems rushed and half-hearted. I also have an issue with how some of the characters a drawn, there is an odd scene with Red Hulk where he looks like a cartoon, and Deadpool is almost unrecognizable at first. The coloring also comes off monochromatic and dull. Again both are probably intended but I just wasn't a fan.

Layout & Flow 4/5

The overall passing for the issue is good and I don't mind the panel layouts. The amount of text and monologue see about right as well, and don't overwhelm the reader.

Story 4/5

The plot of this issue involves the remaining Avengers struggling with the fact they are either placing the remainder of humanity into camps under Doom's control, or they have to lobotomize them with his device. Hawkeye and his team continue to try and keep the cannibalistic populace at bay while T'Challa, Mr. Fantastic and others try to find a cure of their own. It's discovered that those who are cured by Doom don't loose their memories but are reverted to a childlike state. In the final pages we learn a shocking discover about doom. I can't wait for the last issue of this series. It's so far been a good tie-in to prequel Marvel Universe vs. Wolverine and the original Marvel Universe vs. Punisher.

Verdict 3.7
