Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Joker the Monotonous Original Review by Batwatch at Comic Vine

Nightwing has been a solid book throughout the DCNU, but it has rarely wowed me. The last arc featuring Lady Shiva was okay, and though I enjoyed the revelation that Penguin was behind Lady Shiva’s machinations, the lack of a conclusion to the fight between Nightwing and Shiva made things feel a bit hollow. After what seems like an extremely long wait, Joker finally comes to visit Batman’s original son, Dick Grayson, and he’s just in time for Haly's Circus to open on Amusement Mile. Is this the greatest show on Earth, or just a sideshow attraction?

In this issue, Joker murders one of Haly's Circus’ star performers, Raya wakes up in a hanger, Batgirl commiserates with Nightwing, and Dick has to decide how to respond to the threat of Joker in light of Joker’s possible knowledge of Nightwing’s secret identity.

This reflects more on the spamming of tie ins to Death of the Family rather than the actual quality of work in this issue, but Joker is beginning to become extremely tiresome. I mean, I literally yawned while writing that last sentence because that is how predictable the Clown Prince of Crime has become in this series. Don’t get me wrong, there are flashes of brilliance across most of the tie ins, but there are no bright flashes in this issue.

No One Likes a Knockoff Original Review by Johnkmccubbin91 at Comic Vine

Overall this series has been terrific, and Kyle Higgins has done an excellent job. I've loved that this series has focused on Dick Grayson dealing with his past, and how he's embraced it. I've also been really enjoying seeing Dick as Nightwing again, as although I liked him as Batman, and Robin, I much preferred him as Nightwing.

Plot

This issue starts with Joker killing Jimmy Clark because of the resemblance between them, and to get to Nightwing. Joker also has Raya Vestri, and Nightwing has to figure out Joker's plan.

No One Likes A Knockoff
This was an excellent issue, and Higgins has done a splendid job of introducing this series into the Death of the Family crossover. I have really liked Higgins work over this series, and although Tom DeFalco didn't do too bad a job on the last two issues, it wasn't as good as Higgins' work. The way he's reintroduced Haly's Circus into this series, and that he's used this as a recurring setting has been a very nice touch, and I felt he used that in this issue perfectly. He also appears to have a brilliant understanding of Dick as a character, whether he's normal Dick Grayson, or Nightwing, and it's shown in this issue. I've also loved how Higgins has used Joker a little more casually than the other series in this crossover has, whilst still making him psychotic, which I really liked. These tie-in issues to Death of the Family have also been a brilliant platform to show that Joker has put a lot of effort, and planing into this, and that it won't be an easy feet stopping him.

What I Thought

See the Review Rating Overview page for more information on how I rate each comic

Cover & Solicit - 4/5
Art, Colors & Inking - 5/5
Layout & Flow - 5/5
Story - 5/5
Verdict - 4.9

Like the rest of the Death of the Family titles the cover for this issue is of Nightwing and Nightwing with Joker's Face. I really like Eddy Barrows artwork in this issue. The details are great and the coloring works well. I liked the story and actually felt bad about the Joker's killings and forcing Dick to close Haly's Circus and forcing the actors to leave Gotham. Now that the story arc is finally underway the stories are starting to get a little more interesting. Definitely worth the read.
