Wacky Wizard Games Imprint and Three New Games Announced by @wwizardgames

Image
Wise Wizard Games announced the launch of Wacky Wizard Games, a new brand imprint focused on family-friendly, lightweight games. Three games are planned for release in 2024 as part of this new brand imprint: Star Realms Academy, Caution Signs, and Pack the Essentials. If you are interested and attending PAX Unplugged they will have prototypes of Caution Signs and Pack the Essentials. "We are super excited to be adding this new family friendly product line to our catalog. We wanted to maintain the focus of Wise Wizard Games on strategy card and dice games with geeky themes, and have created Wacky Wizard Games as an umbrella for lightweight games with a more whimsical, cute vibe," shared Debbie Moynihan, COO of Wise Wizard Games. Star Realms Academy Forge your own star realms, overloaded with cuteness! A kid friendly but still fun for grown-ups version of the popular Star Realms deckbuilding game for 2 players. A little less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun!

Slightly Disappointing Original Review by Johnkmccubbin91 at Comic Vine

This has been a very enjoyable series so far, and although it hasn't been the best Marvel NOW! series, or the most consistent, it has however been one of the most interesting series', and has the potential to be brilliant. Brian Michael Bendis has done a brilliant job of not just following the Avengers Vs. X-Men story-line very well, but bringing the X-Men teams, who in my opinion were badly affected by the AvX crossover, and making them great again.

Plot

This issue sees the original X-Men face Cyclops who thinks that them being there is some kind of trick. Also Jean Grey has a problem dealing with her newly acquired psychic powers, and Cyclops from the past fights the Cyclops from the present.

Cyclops vs. Cyclops

Review

This was a very good issue but I expected so much more. After the way the last two issues teased the meeting between the original X-Men and Cyclops I was very disappointed with what actually happened. I was expecting something epic, and marvelous, as I really enjoyed the issue that had the original X-Men meeting Wolverine's X-Men, so expected something similar with this issue. Bendis did however do a good job of starting this issue, as anyone that's not read the series can jump on at this point, as all you need to know is that the X-Men from the past are now in the present. I do think that Bendis is taking this series in the right direction, and that this story will have some more brilliant sequences before it's over.

Cyclops vs. Cyclops Original Review by Tomlikesfries at Comic Vine

All-New X-men is certainly not the best title of Marvel NOW!, but it is probably, in my opinion, the one that'll give you the most fun read. I was very excited for this issue due to the amazing cover, and, although it was fairly good, it was not, in my opinion, as satisfying as the other three comics of the series so far.

We start off picking up the events of last issue, as the Scott and Magneto meet the original five. Bendis makes sure to deliver action, although it was very short. Soon after they meet, Magik teleports her friends out of the location. Immonen beautifully presents the fight, with nice facial expressions, and perfectly displayed explosions and powers.

What. The. Hell? Nobody was thinking about cookies?!?!?!

The story is short, and slow paced. We see a bit of all characters. The mutants that Scott and the others "recruited" do make an appearance, although it is a brief one. There is well done piece of dialogue between them, and it's nice to see they weren't forgotten. Eva and Christopher are interesting characters, and I hope to see more of them in the Marvel NOW! Uncanny X-men series.

What I Thought

See the Review Rating Overview page for more information on how I rate each comic.

Cover & Solicit - 4/5
Art, Colors & Inking - 5/5
Layout & Flow - 4/5
Story - 5/5
Verdict - 4.7

This series just keeps impressing me. I really liked the cover for this issue, my only gripe is because of the optic blast and the amount of red, it is kinda hard to distinguish what's happening. The art in this issue still impresses me, and the details are great. The colors are vibrant the the lines are nice and smooth. I enjoyed the first meeting of the characters, and its nice to see how Scott's mind works. He goes from thinking its the work of a telepath to believe it's Mystique and shapeshifters. The pacing did come off a little slow at first but it eventually pick up. I also liked how they showed both Scott's reflecting on what had happened. It shows a similarity in the two and the overlook they used mirrors it in both of them. I can' t wait to see where this series is heading, what's going to happen to the new mutant they forgot, oh and least we forget the fate of Beast.
